Packed with silk-draped R&B tunes for the after-party, Jessie Ware’s second album’s 15 melancholy synth numbers put her dusky voice front and center. If the album cover didn't clue you in, she continues to pay homage to the '80s—"Champagne Kisses" and "Want Your Feeling" have enough drum-machine boogie to make Prince proud, while the minimal arrangements of "Pieces" and "Desire" could leave Sade breathless. She's not entirely giving up her nightclub roots, but Tough Love is best suited for dancing one-on-one.
