With this self-titled album, Tony Lucca delivers what ought to be the album that lands him the attention he's been worthy of for more than a decade. Every song on this album is a gem, from the rollicking "Old Girl" that kicks off the set to the closing ode to his daughter, Sparrow, Lucca delivers a solid serving of rock and roll richness. Every song on the album has texture to it that you need a few listens to absorb what he's up to. Flying without the net of a studio to sway his vision, Lucca steps into his middle age as a masterful craftsman when it comes to sonics while also proving that as a songwriter, he's matured gracefully. There's a lot of depth to this work that brings forward a soulfulness that's both captivating and engaging. If you want the first great CD of 2015, order it here and then go see the man on tour next year. Lucca truly is one of our greatest--now you can hear why!
