15 Songs, 58 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

It only took a single or two before Faith Hill entered the top echelon of female country artists, and she grew in artistic range and substance as time went on, developing a self-confidence and aplomb to rival that of her mentor Reba McEntire. Faith Hill – The Hits traces her recording career from her feisty 1993 single “Wild One” onwards. After keeping her profile high with yearning ballads like “It Matters to Me,” she made her first foray into crossover pop terrain in 1998 with the playfully passionate “This Kiss.” The ultra-sensuous “Breathe” was an even bolder move, encouraging her to depart further from her country roots with full-throttle ballads like “Cry.” In 2005, she tacked back towards the Nashville mainstream with “Mississippi Girl,” a loving invocation of her native state. Two newly-recorded tracks included here — the inspirational “Red Umbrella” and the romantic “Lost” — find Faith combining her country and pop leanings. Whatever direction she chooses to take, Hill combines a diva-like sense of drama with a down-home sweetness and vulnerability. This collection offers a fine overview of her ongoing evolution.

Simply Amazing. I LOVE IT!

Having basically every song recorded by Faith and then some, some might think that a Hits album would not be necessary for me to purchase. However, Faith's latest single Red Umbrella is a solid and wonderful addition to this album. It's an uplifting song can't help cheering me up at anytime of the day. To add a live version of Stronger from her successful Soul2Soul tour was a wonderful bonus. This is song is amazingly soulful and truly shows the depth of her talent. There is something to be said of a Hits compilation which can take many of us back down memory lane and also expose a new generation to music that expanded the country music genre to so many who would otherwise dismiss it. Get this album! It's a wonderful start to your Faith Hill collection. :)

AMAZING!

I am a die-hard fan and like the other reviewer above I really have no reason to buy this album (other than to complete my huge collection!). I already have all the songs! But what I don't have is this amazing, fantastic, superb live version of 'Stronger' (one of my fav non-singles by Faith)! She made the diehard fans very happy with this jaw-dropping improvisation on this song. I wish I knew where/when this was recorded! WOW! 'Red Umbrella' is a fun ditty, great to listen to while driving and quite uplifting! It makes me smile. 'Lost' is a classic Faith ballad, a gorgeous and powerful song of love. These 3 songs are the only ones you won't find on any other album. This is a great album also for the casual Faith fan b/c you can get the major singles of Faith's career in one place. I give this album 5 stars without reservation!!!!!! ;-)
