Editors’ Notes On The W, Chief Keef’s doom-ridden style is grimmer than ever. Rapping with bled-dry vocal cords and backed by low-key synths from producer Zaytoven that sound like they were forged in a dark basement, the Chicago MC is heavy-eyed on “Call’n,” while the thumping drums of “Milk Me” find him counting his material possessions with cocky confidence. “Never Had a Job,” meanwhile, ditches the oddball melodies, allowing him to jump on one of his trademark drill bangers like he’s hell-bent on destruction.
