13 Songs, 1 Hour 2 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

There is a pivotal moment on Biffy Clyro’s second album when lead singer Simon Neil—amid the helter-skelter fretwork of “When the Faction’s Fractioned”—starts to augment his lyrics with little yelps and grunts. These improvised barks of delight point to a confidence that reverberates through The Vertigo of Bliss. Whether it’s the throat-stripping call-to-arms that is “Bodies In Flight” or the delicate harmonies on “Diary of Always” this is a record that takes things up several notches and affirms the Scottish trio’s winning formula of lyrically tender rock maximalism.

One Of My Favourite Albums

After seeing this band in Scotland just under 3 years ago I knew I was witnessing something special. Biffy are a highlight in a genre filled with mediocraty. From the start of every song you are tricked into a sense of "I know where this song is going" before you are twisted on your head and sent down a path you didn't even know existed. With great lyrics and a superb mix of songs The Vertigo Of Bliss is an album that I have enjoyed many times and hopefully one day Biffy Clyro will get the recognition they deserve on this side of the Atlantic.

Excellent Album

I went off a suggestion to listen to these guys so I checked out their Myspace site and listened to the two songs they had on there and was immediately interested. Unfortunately the song on their Myspace, Glitter and Trauma is not on this album and is on their latest(from 2004) and it seems that iTunes does not have that album... I downloaded this one instead and I find myself very satisfied. This is the first band in a long time that has kept me interested in their music for more than a week. They have alot of variety in their music and are all quite skilled at their instruments. They also have a unique sound and far from cliche lyrics(which are one of my pet peeves, alot of band all write about the same stuff.)

So, if you want to listen to some truly impressive rock i would highly recommend getting this album. If you're a little weary, at least get the songs Questions and Answers, Eradicate the Doubt, and Toys.... These are my personal favorite though I am quite fond of all the tracks. Buy it. Listen. Love it.

A Great Band

When I first saw Biffy Clyro, I was pleasantly surprised by their sound. If you love them as much as I do you should definitely get this album. It's not as great as Blackened Sky but its a great album. I love "Questions and Answers" the most. If you've listened to any of their complete albums you already know they don't have any bad songs. I owned Only Revolutions first but wished I'd listened to them in chronological order. It's easier do understand their great rise that way. You should definitely get this album. It Rocks!
