Some beautiful stuff here!

It feels like Horner is getting original again. I'm not crazy about the kooky boom-chick-boom-chick children's movie-type cues on here, but there's some truly beautiful epic stuff going on, especially in the last two cues, 14 and 15... Horner takes us to new places without employing his usual Horner-isms, and the result is some spectacular score.

A Good Album, but some Horner plagariasm present...

I do love James Horner. I won't lie. I love most of his film scores, even the rare and obscure ones. "The Spiderwick Chronicles" is a great piece of work. Horner's depth in writing his action scenes is what attracted me to this score. They're great! However, the main theme (the more emotional theme) is borrowed note-for-note from Horner's work on "Casper" (it is called Casper's Lullaby). If this type of thing does not bother you, than by all means, buy this album. It is the best Horner score in quite some time!

Horner's creative "vision" comes to life

like his "Field of Dreams" soundtrack, Horner built a magical soundtrack and if you build it we will listen! This piece of work brings the imagery to life. Also check out James Horner's brilliant opening theme on The CBS Evening News.
