25 Songs, 51 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

A journey of this magnitude requires an appropriately animated soundtrack. Equal parts George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue” and George Benson’s “On Broadway,” Alexandre Desplat’s breezy, jaunty score for The Secret Life of Pets epitomizes a hustling, bustling New York somewhere between Woody Allen and Mad Men. Lively cymbals evoke wiggling, wagging tails, while seductive flutes bring to mind the caricature of an inquisitive-yet-cautious cat. And the curious, dancing clarinet of “Meet the Pets” perfectly sets the mood for the animals’ wide-eyed adventure.

Weenie

Just wondering where the "Everybody wants to be a weenie" song is.

Songs in the movie, not on the soundtrack?

The movie opens with Taylor Swift's "Welcome to New York"... Not on the soundtrack. Also you hear a snippet of the Beastie Boys "No Sleep Till Brooklyn"... Also not there. If you want to here "We Go Together", get the Grease soundtrack, this one is a disappointment.

Missing songs?

Where are all of the awesome cover songs that we in the movie? Lots are missing...like Beastie Boys-No Sleep Till Brooklyn. Kinda a let down if you are expecting those.
