21 Songs, 1 Hour 31 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

The first full Slayer set to be released as a live album since 1984 is a testament to the longevity, consistency, fleet-fingered chops, and devoted fans of the thrash metal pioneers. Recorded at the Inglewood Forum in 2017 towards the end of a multi-year trek supporting their final album, Repentless, Killogy is the product of a band that’s played roughly 2,000 shows with merciless energy, machinelike precision, blazing solos, little banter, no flights of fancy, and reliably rowdy crowds. These 90 minutes are heavy on songs from the band's classic, game-changing 1986–1990 run (think: Reign in Blood, South of Heaven, and Seasons in the Abyss); the coda to "Postmortem" is breakneck and the guitar solos on "Angel of Death" are wild. However, there's also room for savage versions of early '80s tunes like "The Antichrist," "Chemical Warfare," and "Hell Awaits," along with five songs off that last album.

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics.

Long Live Slayer

Slayer fan since Hell Awaits! I went to the Slayer movie, it was awesome.

Anything less than 5 stars, God will haunt you!

Unbelievably Disappointing

This has to be one of the worst live recordings I have ever heard. It sounds like the microphones were placed up in the top of the dome and is echoey. This does not have the power and fury captured on Decade of Aggression recorded almost 30 years ago. There are live Slayer bootlegs out there that better than this garbage. I was looking forward to this big time, and after three listens it has not gotten better. The one track I thought was ok was You Against You. Tom doesn’t sound bad throughout but everything else just sounds like a hot mess. Just saw them last summer and they killed it, so this is not an accurate representation. I will have to pass on the live concert when it becomes available on iTunes. Hopefully they will put something else out, perhaps of the final show. This cannot be the final document we will have to remember Slayer by.
