Editors’ Notes
Never one to mince words, Bocephus spends much of the surprisingly hard-rocking It’s About Time sticking to familiar lyrical matter: God, country, guns, and days gone by. Led by a duet with Eric Church on Neil Young’s “Are You Ready for the Country,” the album barrels through a series of paeans to freedoms personal (“Just Call Me Hank”), political (“Club U.S.A.”), and spiritual (the gospel-inflected “Wrapped Up, Tangled Up in Jesus”)—with a good-humored detour into fashion advice on “Dress Like an Icon.”
