Another Eydie Gorme

I was actually shocked how good Ms. Boyle has become. She finally has achieved the exquisite beauty first demonstrated in her first professional recording of Cry Me A River in the 1990s. I had thought she lost this beauty because of age. This is the first album of hers that truly captures the sadness of Scotland. Her rendition of Father Christmas was simply beautiful. This album is a lesson in pedagogy: With endless practice and error, one can achieve majesty, such as Ms. Boyle. The musical arrangements in this album are brilliant, powerful, yet never overpowering. A 10.

Stunning. She has a winner here.

This is truly an exquisite album. Her voice is beautiful and clear, powerful and soft, and the orchestrational arrangements transform even the Christmas Classics into something new and special. Bagpipes added to the Drummer Boy is wonderful. Some of the arrangements have a very nostalgic quality to them, reminiscent of the 40’s. The duet with Johnny Mathis is really beautiful and it’s a song that’s not on every other Christmas CD. There's also several songs that are new to me and I love them. You can't go wrong with this album, I think it'll be one of my favorites for years to come.
