There is Nothing Greater

To say that the Jester Race is the benchmark for Melodic Death Metal would be an understatement. While I greately enjoyed DT's Gallery, it just didn't match up to this. Not only is this my favorite In Flames album, right now, it is my favorite album period. Every song is complex, every song is unique, every song sticks in your head. Anders' roars perfectly match up with the twin guitar assault of Jesper and Glenn. Bjorn is on drums in this album, and he does a great job carrying the album to new heights.

Honestly, it's so good I can't help but want more. Whoracle came close, and Daniel's side project Sacrilege is definitely knocking on the door, but it's hard to duplicate something that's already perfect. If you are looking for the absolute best melodic death metal album ever created, look no further, for you have found it.

The Album That Started It All

This album is by far the best melodic death metal album of all time. Some have come close but nobody ever topped this one. The jester race album since its release in 97 have spawned millions of melodic death metal bands. It is an easy 10 out of 10. The riffs are heavy, the distortion is perfect, the vocals are raw, and the solos by Jesper Stromberlin are pure out of this world. My only question to In Flames today would be "what the hell happened?"
