EDITORS’ NOTES

The Matchbox Twenty frontman’s third solo album is a diverse set of rollicking pop-rock that boasts collaborations with an impressive roster of producers—including “Smooth” collaborator Matt Serletic and Wallpaper’s Ricky Reed. For “Trust You,” Thomas joins forces with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder to carve a sleek dance single from playful harmonies and a driving house beat. “Hold On Forever” is a cheery acoustic strummer on which Thomas reaches out to a friend in need: First thing, we make you feel better / Next stop, we pull it all together / I’ll keep you warm like a sweater.”

Love Rob Thomas..

Matchbox Twenty is one of my favorite bands, and consequently Rob is one of my favorite artists. His album Something to Be was great. He had that special, almost bluesy rock sound that was so unique to him. This album sounds like everybody else to me. I hate to be a negative critic, especially on someone I am a huge fan of. Rob Thomas has an incredible, one-of-a-kind voice, and I feel like the music on this album doesn’t reflect that. Maybe he’s trying a new sound, and enjoying it. If that’s the case, good for him! I’m always going to be partial to his earlier stuff and the music Matchbox Twenty has made in the previous years versus this sound.

Matchbox Twenty is better !

This is the second or third album solo, and i don't like it. Rob Thomas try to make these pop songs with nothing of rock or something similar what he does on matchbox, that it's amazing, but maybe not so popular on these days...It's a great songwriter, i understand that A LOT of bands of rock are doing the same MISTAKE, putting to much eletronic effects on songs and turning very pop...I really don't like to watch a great artist on concerts singing with a DJ ...This is karaoke...Rihanna style.. Where is the old rock ??!?!!

Unoriginal Bubble-Gum Pop - So Disappointing

WHYYYYY? Why did Rob abandon his rock roots to put out an over-produced, bubble-gum pop record that sounds like everything else out there? I’m a HUGE fan of RT and MB20, but I just can’t get excited about this record at all. Rob is such a great songwriter but I feel like he lost his soul here.
