The Goat

The Goat

When Bad Bunny included Ñengo Flow on not one but two YHLQMDLG tracks, including the throwback hit “Safaera,” it served as no small homage to one of the most influential figures in Puerto Rico’s música urbana history. For the preceding decade and a half, the rapper and reggaetonero has been dropping mixtapes and albums connecting the streets with the clubs, making connections with everyone from Tego Calderón to French Montana. As such, it doesn’t feel like a stretch for the genre maestro behind seminal singles like “En Las Noches Frias” and “No Dice Na” to drop a project called The Goat. Several artists come through to show respect and demonstrate their respective worth. A standout in this sea of collaborations, “Sur y Norte” finds him and Anuel AA easing into a rare reggae groove. He flexes his trap muscles alongside Brray and Myke Towers on the booming “Traficando” and with Darell on the airy yet tough “Solo.” Ñengo’s dembow devotees will get their fill from the breezy “¿Dónde?” with Jhay Cortez and on his own with “La Prisión.”
