Not only is The Ghosts of Highway 20 one of Lucinda Williams’ most conceptually driven efforts, it's also one of her most personal. Utilizing the Deep South highway I-20 as a backdrop, the Louisiana-born artist delivers a moodily honest set of reflections on life, family, and roots. Jazzy twanger “I Know All About It” is as pained and ragged as “Can’t Close the Door on Love” is soulful and tender. Throughout, Williams’ gravelly voice is exquisite, especially on the bluesy gumbo groovefest “Faith and Grace.”
