Something young and indomitable

Hutzul-Ethno-Ska band from Ivano-Frankivsk, Western Ukraine presented to the public stunning album with a funny name “The Feast of Mushrooms and Trout”. The name of the band comes from the village Perkalaba, which is on the verge of Chernivtsi and Ivano-Frankivsk region and the border with Hungary. Their music is quite an explosive mixture of ethnic harmonies particularly from the Hutzul, Bukovyna and Zakarpattya regions and Ska Punk elements.

The album includes both real ska song, and gentle, lyrical compositions. Their dashing temperament is balanced with purely Slavic melancholy, "gashes" on the electric guitar, the sound of cymbals and the roar the trombone. Incredible music generated by fantastic musicians. The band’s inclination is to emphasize simplicity, natural harmony, lightness, humor and a charge of positive energy.

Everyone will soon be talking about these guys as the more natural variant of Gogol Bordello, without all the commercial hype. Perkalaba’s music is something young and indomitable.

Great Ethno-Ska from the Heart of the Carpathians

Perkalaba is a brilliant band that mixes vibrant Carpathian regional motifs with a very modern sound. If you enjoy Gogol Bordello, you will love Perkalaba! The Feast of Mushrooms and Trout (Свято Грибiв i Форелiв) is a celebration of wild mushroom picking and fishing in the mountain lakes where the air is fresh and the mood is always joyous.
