EDITORS’ NOTES

In acclaimed action RPG The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, players are charged with defending the world by defeating the epic dragon prophesied to bring apocalypse. Jeremy Soule’s score is equally epic, its massive choirs (“Dragonborn”) and mystical string ballads (“From Past to Present”) stirring feelings of valor while its pianos and harps (“Secunda”) conjure magical vibes. Harkening to other mythological soundtracks, such as those for the Lord of the Rings films, the music of the colossal world of Skyrim is the cornerstone of its fantastical, unforgettable adventure.

One of the Best Gaming Soundtracks of 2012

I played Skyrim the moment it came out, and to be honest, the soundtrack is what pulls the game together.

Whether you're walking through the province of Skyrim observing the beautiful mountains and scenery to "From Past to Present" (one of my absolute favorite songs), battling frost trolls to the tune of "Caught off Guard" or battling a dragon to "One They Fear", this soundtrack is absolutely epic. Even the menu music ("Dragonborn") makes you want to grow an epic nord beard and be part of the deep, enthralling world that is Skyrim.

Five out of five for sheer awesomeness. This is one soundtrack you do not want to pass up!

Simply one of the best video game scores from this generation

I've owned since Skyrim came out in 2011, and listened to it more than 50 times. It's beautiful, ethereal, and composed masterfully, evoking that same emotion when exploring the snow-swept lands of Skyrim. Composed by Jeremy Soule, this is one of my very favorite soundtracks that simply never gets old.
