Andrew from Pavonis Mons ,

music is the weapon of the future

Freaking gnarly release by the veterans of 'instrumental post-rock'. Their style continues to evolove. This world of music that we now live in is a masquerade...pieces of poop wrapped in pretty boxes. 'The Catastrophist' helps me realize this and simultaneously makes me believe in music again. Of course their will be a listener that will say 'TNT' was much more progressive and had a more guitar-driven rock-oriented style. Beware. There is plenty of risk taking and guitar here (cameron of Pitchkife). Take a stab at this album and you wont be let down. The 'Rock On' David Essex cover is brilliant. 'Gesceap' rips my heart open and flushes out all the non GMO music I have eaten this past year. The LP from Thrilljockey is my next purchase. Good listening

Hello Tortoise, where have you been all my musical life? How did I know Jeff Parker, AACM and the Art Ensemble and not you? It took Chicago brother Ryley Walker (check that guy readers if you haven't already) to lead me to your door. Out here in the remote Eastern Sierra you sometimes think you are paying attention, then must remember to check on the Windy City more often. Brilliant Release, the art of music condensed.
