Every Fredo Bang album feels like an event, but there’s something a little extra he put into his second LP of 2025, The Big Bang. Perhaps it’s the title, which references the single largest occurrence in the history of this planet, or maybe it’s the confidence he brings to the 17-track effort. Regardless, there’s an oomph throughout the collection that elevates it within Fredo’s rapidly growing discography. Though The Big Bang arrived just two months after his joint album with producer TEC, 8 Legged Gorilla, the Baton Rouge-born rapper still has plenty to say. There’s a maturity to the album that comes from Fredo’s diaristic storytelling, like on album opener “Stretch,” which features the MC reminiscing over a warm soul beat: “Eighth grade, some people thought we’ll make that shit last forever/Times change, now I’m grown.” The halcyon days get further away with each passing minute. Elsewhere, he allows himself to be more vulnerable than ever before, like on “Feel a Way,” where he reckons with the pain that has informed much of his life. “So much trauma in my life and I’m not okay/Tryna tell my dog I love him and that’s each and every day.”
