In the '70s, Focus became one of the Netherlands' most popular musical exports due to hits like "Focus Pocus" (which alternates between roaring guitar riffs and sonic slapstick) and the poignant instrumental "Sylvia." This collection features cuts from most of the band's '70s albums, offering a good overview of their evolution. While it tends toward shorter, more accessible cuts (eschewing Focus's more intense prog/fusion epics), this package still shows several sides of the quartet's musical personality, from flute-led, Jethro Tull–tinged folk-prog ("House of the King") to contemplative instrumentals ("Janis"), as well as the more commercial sounds found on later albums.
