With performances as neat as the title’s play on words, Alon Sariel has arranged a nicely varied programme of concertos by Georg Philipp Telemann for mandolin and ensemble. The delicate and beguiling sound of his instrument is complemented by Ensemble Foscari, who are equally light on their feet, bringing rhythmic life to this oft-overlooked repertoire. These are pieces that leave no doubt that Telemann was one of the greats, rightly admired by his friend JS Bach.
