Okay, so maybe I'm just writing this to be the first review...

The title of my review says it all, but I did listen to the clips and my honest opinion is that Takes sounds like their album cover. No, I'm not crazy, I'm not on any special medication, it's not three in the morning, and I'm not high on caffeigne or anything else you could possibly be high on.... I just really think they sound like their album cover.
Like, it's kinda simple and boring, but it's got some color. The colors, however, are bold, but not way too bold, nor are they really light like pastels.
And the songs are kind of relaxing in a way and I find the picture to be somewhat relaxing as well.
And, it kinda looks Indian in a way and the drums in one of the songs sounded kinda Indian (Loro), which is what made me think of comparing the songs to the album cover....

And that's my deep thought for the day. I hope someone is slightly amused by my amazing analogy because I didn't spend much time on it:)

Nicely done...

Very simple sounds and vocals. However I was pleasantly surprised. Takes has a very beautiful calming effect.

If only all cover albums were like this

If you are fmailiar with any of the songs on this album, forget what you know about them. Adem has taken his song writing abilities and put them to the test by recording some of indie rocks most beloved artists. The result is perhaps one of the best cover albums I have heard in years. Each song is handled as if it were his own creation, it never feels as if this is a cash in to bridge the gap until he can write his own material. I am familiar with most of the tracks on this album but never once did I feel like I was listening to a trashy rehashed version of those original songs. Everything on here is worthy of a download but the cover of Aphex Twin's "Weakling child" and Pinback's "Loro" really stand out. An exceptional album from a talented and underrated musician.
