Da one is exactly that.....

Ya know music has become so boring lately I must say it's a blessing to hear something fresh and new...The One has a style that most people ain't ready for yet cause they programed to listen to that main stream trash..Joints like "Milk Shake Thick".. "Drippin"......."Superpyschosexy"...and "Pistol Whipped" are the kind of tracks that remind me of summer days in the past when I was playing hide and go get it while my dad burnt the chicken on da grill cause he was to busy dancin wit mom to "Flashlight"..If you a Chris Brown, Jordan Sparks lovin somebody then NO you may not like the ONE......BUT for the rest of US who want to vibe out off some Ole Funked out GROWN UP groves wit a modern day Twist.YOU NEED TO COP THIS....

Mr. Swerve On ,

Sick with the pimpin' mack styley.

I'm a huge fan of old school pimp soundtracks like Superfly, The Mack, Shaft, etc and I love P-Funk so I was instantly drawn to The One from the cover art. On first listen, it's clear that this man is a pimp, but he's not stuck in 70's retro land, he's putting a modern day twist on it. I'm also a big fan of broken beat and future soul like Bugz in the Attic, Vikter Duplaix, Platinum Pied Pipers and The Rebirth so it's refreshing to hear new artists working within this genre. On top of that though, the production alone on this album is its strongest suit. The deep bass lines, b-boy breaks and strings with mellow piano work all equate to a headnodding vibe reminiscent Pete Rock 'Petestrumentals' and Colosssus 'West Oaktown' (two of my all time faves!). If you're a fan of any of these things, you'll love what The One is doing.

This CD is hot and a real welcome to the now pedestrian sounds of hip-hop! The One brings you tight "Drippin" beats, sleazy vocals and nostalgic melodies reminiscent of Parliment and Bootsy Collins...Highly recommended!
