EDITORS’ NOTES

Skyharbor have called their first album in four years a labor of love, a fortuitous result after weathering the loss of two core members. On the evocatively titled Sunshine Dust, the quintet maintains their hard-rock roots, thanks to their thundering grooves, duelling guitars and agile percussion from new drummer Aditya Ashok. Meanwhile, new vocalist Eric Emery is at his emotive best when he sings about politics (“Dim”), instills courage (“Blind Side”) or confronts mortality (“Sunshine Dust”). Whether singing a delicate lyric or raging through a sonic mayhem, Skyharbor remains a destination for prog-metal fans.

Didn't live up to expectations

I eagerly awaited this albums release, bought it immediately, and have sat on it for a few months. I believe I'm confident to say now, I'm super proud of them and their success in being able to release a new album, but I was not wild about it. It is a complete 180 from their usual sound, and I think if you're a fan of Skyharbor, it will be a disorienting delve into a totally different sound and genre, but if you're into early 2010's emo music maybe it will be more your speed. By far not my favorite from them and I hope they'll stray closer back to the groove they had established in their next album, but I'm still very happy for them and their success despite my dislike for it.

Good things come to those who wait!!

Wow excellent album!! I’ve been waiting for this release like many others for quite a while and it didn’t disappoint!! I will say though one tiny thing I “prefer over the other” and that’s the single track “out of time” put out several years prior...I actually love the arrangement of how that sounds over the remastered version on the album..not that it’s bad just I love the single version better. Without a doubt my favorite track so far is “Ugly Heart” powerful song!!! All in all it’s a dynamic album!!!

Wow

Everything about this album has surpassed my expectations. Simply incredible. Eric Emery is a force to be reckoned with.
