10 Songs, 34 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Memorable characters loom large in our favorite Weezer songs—guys in Buddy Holly glasses and lovelorn losers—but the group's tenth studio album is filled with the colorful mess of people from the West L.A. beach scene. We meet a pack of heroic slackers in “California Kids,” fall in love with a girl from the cannoli shop in “Thank God for the Girls,” and float past tambourine-playing Krishnas in the sugar-sweet hook of "(Girl We Got A) Good Thing.” And while most of the White Album’s portraits are painted with overdriven guitars and Beach Boys-inspired “oohs,” none is more cathartic than album’s closer, “Endless Bummer,” which begins as an acoustic beach-fire sing-along and ends with a blistering solo.

The singles didn't prepare me for the awesomeness that is this album.

I am a hard core fan through thick and thin. This album took me two or three listens before it caught on. Now it's on constant rotation. The last two songs are stellar. Just gorgeous.

Weezer's best album in the 2000's

This Weezer album is very solid. The surf-rock vibe to these songs (California Kids, LA Girlz, King of the World) reminds me of their Blue Album. Along with these great songs, I love Do You Wanna Get High? It's by far my favorite song from them in the 2000's. This song has a very gritty quality to it (like Pinkerton). Overall this album is very solid and it's worth every penny.

One of the best!

What makes this new album so amazing is that it's a mix of some of their previous works. You have a Blue Album vibe from Endless Bummer and surf vibes from L.A Girlz. The Pinkerton feel in Do You Wanna Get High? feels so fresh and new, (Girl We Got a) Good Thing feels like the Green Album (which I love) and the new ones like Summer Elaine and Drunk Dori, and Thank God For Girls keeps the fun of the lyrics that Rivers does. Jacked Up, Endless Bummer and California Kids are my top three favorites, in no order. I always listen to this album full, when I walk to school, when I do work, and when I'm in the shower. I thought Weezer made a great comeback with EWBAITE, but this truly says that they have not lost their touch.
