Jonathan Demme’s chronicle of Talking Heads’ late-1983 run at the Pantages Theatre is one of music’s greatest documentaries. But a large part of that comes from the band’s restless, catchy songs, which shape-shifted live. They turn “Psycho Killer” into a terse opening statement and transform “Slippery People” into an expansive funk jam, while the raucous version of Al Green’s “Take Me to the River” is more revival meeting than Mudd Club throwdown.
