Ruby Unearth’s Art of the Heart

I love how soulful Ruby’s stories are- I almost can’t call them tracks because they are mini experiences to the most beautiful and unique voice. Each song is pure poetry. I tear up to some not b/c they're sad, but literally they touch something in me that much. It is one of the albums I’ve had on repeat for a while. I love it so much I had to YouTube all her past work, too. There’s a cute video of her singing “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” with a cute dog who wants to be apart of the action, too. I would LOVE (emphasize LOVE just one more time) for Ruby to have a Christmas album. This woman is just phenomenal. A true artist.

A really solid and enjoyable album! It’s almost entirely covers ("I Tried" being the sole original), but Ruby puts her mark on each track and makes the whole thing hers. The album has a marvelous ethereal quality to it, with gorgeous and haunting vocals. I want more already!

I had never heard of her music but I found her on Rdio and I had to listen to her whole album straight through. When the album was over I had to come straight to iTunes and purchase it. The album leans towards old sounds but still manages to sound new and fresh. She goes for a soulful approach in the vocals without ever sounding shrill or annoying or to soft the way that other singers like Joss Stone and Norah Jones and Even Nicole Scherzinger do at times. Hope that she gets the attention she deserves so she can continue making such wonderful music.
