The practice-space sonics only add to the proto-punk urgency of the nervous “Views” and the triumphant “The Masks,” both basement shredders in the finest MC5/Stooges tradition. The breakneck groove of “Can You Give Me a Thrill???” points toward hardcore punk’s unfettered future, while “The Change” is a woozy studio experiment with one foot in the psychedelic ‘60s.
