Spawn (Again): A Tribute to Silverchair
Various Artists

Australian rock and metal would look very, very different if Silverchair didn’t exist. While Daniel Johns and company laid the 'Chair to rest long ago, their legacy lives on. Curated by local metal purveyors UNFD, Spawn (Again) is a blistering compilation of Silverchair covers, courtesy of Australia’s biggest heavy acts. Highlights include Northlane’s adrenaline-fueled version of “Anthem for the Year 2000,” Ocean Grove’s manic take on the titular “Spawn (Again)” and Storm the Sky’s spectacular “Emotion Sickness,” with textured guitars replacing the original strings, and William Jarratt’s vocals more than doing Johns’ melody—and range—justice.
