Songs for Slim - EP

In February 2012, former Replacements guitarist Robert "Slim" Dunlap began a nine-month hospital stay due to a massive right brain stroke. His insurance doesn't pay for long-term care, and the general prognosis is that he'll likely need around-the-clock care for the rest of his life. This EP is part of an extensive campaign, featuring many top-shelf artists, to help pay Slim's bills. All profits go to the Slim Dunlap Fund. In September 2012, Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson reunited at Flowers Studio in Minneapolis, with Kevin Bowe on second guitar and Peter Anderson on drums. Together they recorded Slim's song "Busted Up." While in the studio, the guys also slammed through Hank Williams' "Lost Highway," Gordon Lightfoot's "I'm Not Sayin'," and the Broadway show Gypsy's "Everything's Coming Up Roses." The Replacements' original drummer, Chris Mars, had his already-completed one-man-band version of Slim's "Radio Hook Word Hit" added to the EP, and the result is the first official Replacements record since 1990's All Shook Down. Fans won't be disappointed.
