So Numb

So Numb

With their follow-up to 2015’s Revisionist, Brooklyn instrumental trio Sannhet unfurl an accomplished album full of cinematic peaks and valleys. Alternately swirling, chiming, and pulsing, guitar-driven tracks like “Sapphire,” “Sleep Well,” and the drum-led “Way Out” offer master classes in instrumental-rock dynamics, while the somber “Fernbeds” features guest guitar from Thom Wasluck of one-man shoegaze-metal outfit Planning for Burial. Sannhet even go goth on “Salts,” creating an overall effect that is both uplifting and vaguely narcotic.
