Casey Veggies was an original member of Odd Future, whose leader—Tyler, the Creator—appears on “DTA,” the centerpiece of Sleeping in Class. With its wonky but aggressive beat, the song is the perfect foil for Casey’s agile rapping. It’s easy to see why he outgrew the crew. While Odd Future are a collective of proud outcasts, Veggies performs like a born star. He shines on “Can I Live,” “Ridin’ Roun Town,” and “Get Through,” in which the barely grownup protagonist remains polished and poised amid raucous, highly combustible beats.
