10 Songs, 34 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

The title of Marit Larsen’s fourth album is apt—these bubbly indie pop songs brim with the same magical brightness and sense of possibility that accompany the sunrise. That barely contained optimism is especially present in the sweet lyrical mantras on “Traveling Alone”—“You’re gonna keep trying,” she sings, “you’re gonna stay strong”—but it also colors bleaker tracks, like “I Don’t Want to Talk About It.” And Larsen’s voice, which flutters and darts like a murmuration of starlings, adds dynamism to every word.
