EDITORS’ NOTES

Luther Vandross’ reign as one of R&B’s leading lights begins here with his storming debut album, which showcases his rough yet tender croon on smartly appointed songs, from the bouncing funk bassline of “I’ve Been Working” to the flinty Quiet Storm entreaty of “Don’t You Know That?” The besotted title track and the gently funky “Sugar and Spice (I Found Me a Girl)” pop with bravado, while the wrenching cover of “A House Is Not a Home” places him among pop’s balladeer elite.

The debut of 'The Voice'! Though we'd heard him on various commercials, etc. We didn't KNOW him. Then came Change and we got a glimpse of his potential. But Oh, when he hit the scene SOLO! The world would never be the same and will never be!! God Bless you Luther for blessing us with your presence. Everybody (White, Black, whatever) had a favorite Luther song and we are ALL so much the better for it and him! R.I.P. brother, YOU WILL BE MISSED A LIFETIME!

Wow

Just recently found about Luther Vandross (thanks to one of Chance The Rapper’s songs funnily enough) and I’ve been missing out on an absolute legend!
