This may just be one of my all time favorite albums. First of all, Malika’s voice is an absolute gem to the ears that I find absolutely enticing. With other albums, I find they are lyrically and stylistically a bit hit-or-miss from song to song, but on Naîf, there is something clear and specific I appreciate and can distinguish from each song, such as the bouncy surrealness of “Blu,” the relaxed tension of “Ansia da felicità,” or the precision in the utter freedom of “Adesso e qui.” It seems to me that Malika is at her most artistic here, and I think this may also have something to do with the fact that this is her first album fully in Italian in addition to her natural progression as a singer and lyricist.
