Great

The vocals are what steal the show on this album. Great voice! The clean vocals are a cross between Jerry Cantrell and Layne Stayley from old Alice In Chains. I know thats a weird comparison for melodic death metal, but listen for yourself. This guy has a set of pipes! I have their other albums as well, and I love them, especially the full length, "The wreckage of stars," but I am enjoying this one even more. There is a lot of depth to the tempo changes, and the vocal alterations between death and clean. Sometimes the clean vocals don't work for death metal bands, but in this case, they are awesome! These guys are doing what Opeth used to do, (before they turned into a prog jazz band) but they are doing it even better. Beautiful piano interludes, melodic guitar solos, great arrangements. Doesn't get much better that this if you are looking for melodic death metal or melodic progressive death metal. Whatever you want to call it, it's really good.

Perfect.

The title track is one of the most beautiful songs I have heard in a long time. I met some of the members after a show here in Dallas about two months ago and these dudes are so nice and you can tell they have a sincere passion for music. I feel like this album will demonstrate that perfectly. Can't wait to hear the rest.
