Wiley released his third full album in 2008 declaring that, musically, he wanted “to be where it’s happening”. That means rolling his dense, quick flow over wonky rave synths (“Wearing My Rolex”), Mark Ronson-produced retro soul (“Cash In My Pocket”), and sleek disco-funk with sugar-rush hooks (“Summertime”, “Turn It Up”). It’s a long, glossy ride from his grime origins but Hot Chip collaboration “Step By Step” shows he’s still up for some brilliantly unhinged electronica.
