It doesn't get any better than this

This is my favorite album of the last 20 years by a country mile. It won't be for everybody - the sound is angular and the guitars are distorted - so listen well before you purchase, but this is as good as the Wedding Present got, and for my money that is very, very good indeed. If you're not sure whether to take the plunge, download the first 2 songs and see what you think. If those 2 songs don't do it for you, I'm guessing the rest of the album won't either, but if you like intelligent lyrics, great song-writing, and distorted guitars, this is the best example of those things that I know. The original album contained just the first 10 songs. Tracks 11-13 come from the "All the songs sound the same" EP (and "Crawl" is one of their very best songs). The remaining tracks collect material from EPs that were released around that time. I don't think this album used to be on iTunes, which was a shame because, as I said above, I think it is the best album by a great band, so it's great to see it hear now. Play loud, play often, and, finally, let me close with a public "thank you" to David and the various members of The Wedding Present through the years for doing what they do, and thereby giving the rest of us a great deal of pleasure - for whatever it's worth, you have been the soundtrack to my life.

Favorite Album

I was fortunate enough to see The Wedding Present during their Seamonsters tour. I did not realize at the time what a special moment that was. I remember being mesmerized by Simon Smith's drumming and the twin buzz- saw guitar sound. It was mind blowing. I saw them years later in the Cinerama incarnation and it was a disapointment to say the least. I did get to talk to David however as he was halking T- shirts before the show ( so un-rock star like). This will always be one of my favorite CD's. I used to bartend and I even had this disk put in the juke box for my own satisfaction. It definately is not for everyone. But if you " get it " you really get it! And of course it must be played LOUD.
