Brain Function in Full Engagement, Body Locked In Vigilance

This album is one of the best kept secrets in punk rock, and nothing short of a masterpiece. From front to back, this album feels like traveling at light speed to another dimension where musical genres and poetic forms as we know them cease to exist. This album is a phenomenon really; something of a journey through science fiction and the politics of our time. Step on up and have your ticket handy. The Element of Sonic Defiance will rattle your mind, jolt your senses, and disintegrate all the formulae you've come to expect of modern so cal punk.

Highly underrated

I'm forever indebted to this record and this band.

The best album of their career

This is how Strung Out was always meant to sound! Sorry to break it to you kids but Strung Out has always been rooted in metal and this album allowed them to more fully explore that. We get haunting melodies, misanthropic aggression, and unique rhythms and outstanding production and mixing to create a big bleak atmospheric sound not heard on any of their other albums. Best of all, no sappy pop punk or emoish vocals. Stand out tracks are Mission To Mars, Savant, and (my all time favorite) Razorblades!
