Savage Imperial Death March

Savage Imperial Death March

The title of this collaborative album comes from the first tour the Melvins and Napalm Death did together in 2016. The US grunge godfathers and UK grind pioneers resurrected the name for their second co-headliner in 2025. Somewhere in between, they recorded an album together. A truly collaborative effort with songwriting and performances from members of both bands, Savage Imperial Death March is an unparalleled meeting of musical minds. You wanna hear Napalm vocalist Barney Greenway growling over gargantuan rock riffs penned by Melvins vocalist Buzz Osborne? “Tossing Coins into the Fountain of Fuck” has you covered. What about a duet between Buzz and Barney over a thundering Melvins riff and squealing leads from Napalm guitarist John Cooke? Look no further than the nine-minute noise-groove bouillabaisse “Some Kind of Antichrist.” Melvins stick-master Dale Crover plays drums on the record, but depending on the track the bass might be handled by Napalm OG Shane Embury or Buzz standing in for the Melvins’ endless rotation of bass players. This digital edition is an extended version of the limited physical release exclusive to the 2025 tour, and features the two new tracks “Awful Handwriting” and “Comparison is the Thief of Joy.”
