At first I had my reservations about this album. I still don’t really care for “White Sky” that much. Long time is similarly mixed. The only song where the Low-Fi thing really works well is “In the Car".
I had some more optimistic inclinations when the title track was released. The rest of the album is the classic brilliance we have come to expect from Weller. “Going My Way” is a wonderful ballad that reminds me of something between the Beatles and Ben Folds Five. “I’m Where I should be”,“Pick it Up”,“In the Car” and “These city streets" are on regular repeat as of late. It’s refreshing to hear Weller still reaching for new ideas, especially at this point in this career. This is already shaping up to be one of the best releases of 2015.

It’s not even released yet...

And Bruno Taut is wanking himself off to a stupid review.

The album has a lot of RnB in it. Did you listen to the same thing I did?

Weller does it again. By my estimate that’s 4 stone clod classic albums in less than a decade. This is probably as good as 22 Dreams if not better. A lovely, inventive, upbeat and soulful suite of songs that stand together as an actual listening experience. Perfect.
