17 Songs, 1 Hour 7 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

The atmosphere of 2016’s Ruminations—stripped-back, vulnerable, raw—seemed of a piece with a record marked by Conor Oberst’s convalescence in his Nebraskan hometown. So it’s a surprise to learn that the expansive full band accompaniment of this companion album actually returns those songs to their intended form. Bolstered by seven new tracks and radiating whiskey-drenched bonhomie (see the rowdy honky tonk of “Napalm”), Salutations thrillingly trades isolation for the cathartic communion of friends crowded around a piano.

EXCEPTIONAL ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lyrical genius...hands down the best songwriter. It cuts to the core in a way that is pointless trying to describe, you just have to experience it.
I've yet to hear anyone paint such a clear picture of emotion. And I know what you're thinking 'You can't HEAR a picture being painted'.
And to that I whisper "you haven't heard the album"
I so strongly recommend everyone listens to his album that I am starting to sound like a commercial for the man, but what can I say he's an unmatchable brand...

Ruminations was one of my favorite recordings last year and the new fleshed out version Salutations is probably going to end up near the top this year. Conor picked the perfect back up musicians to interpret the songs from Rumination led by the Felice Brothers and the great Jim Keltner on drums and producing. Can just put this on and hit replay over and over.

Conor's music is so real. This album is a great re work of the sparse recordings of Ruminations. The new songs are also great! The Felice Brothers are great here backing him up! Very talented!
