David Gray began his career like many other busking acoustic performers, and thanks to his deserved success he eventually built a name for himself as a mature singer/songwriter. This set includes songs from his first album, 1993’s A Century Ends, through to his 2005 album Life in Slow Motion. Two new songs—“You’re the World to Me” and “Destroyer”—bookend the album. All tracks are the original album versions, except “Be Mine” (which is the single remix), “Babylon” (which is a new mix), and “Shine” (which is presented here in a live recording from the Hammersmith Apollo that's also available on Gray’s concert DVD Live in Slow Motion). Gray’s openhearted work is the sound of an optimistic romantic who goes through bad patches. There's heartbreak in his music, but it’s mostly a restless feeling that tugs at his soul from time to time. His joy, however, is contagious.
