Wes Anderson's second film is set at a present-day private school, but in keeping with its appealingly off-kilter tone, its soundtrack's heart is in Swinging London of the ’60s. Alongside brief segments of Mark Mothersbaugh's clever score, which mixes electronics with balalaika-like stringed instruments, Anderson delves deep into the Carnaby Street sound. Cult favorites like The Creation's feedback anthem "Making Time" and Chad & Jeremy's wistful "A Summer Song" fit perfectly next to early classics by The Kinks, The Who, and Cat Stevens.
