Although Brian Setzer had great success with The Brian Setzer Orchestra, he's always been a pure rockabilly artist at heart. Just as he promoted and executed vintage rockabilly sounds with The Stray Cats, here he rips into classics such as an instrumental version of "Blue Moon of Kentucky," "Put Your Cat Clothes On," and "Slow Down/Folsom Prison Blues" with a versatile rock 'n' roll band that includes The Stray Cats' Slim Jim Phantom. These recordings were taken from the Rockabilly Riot! tour of 2011 and 2012, where he served up these impeccably played tunes to audiences in Australia, Japan, Sweden, and the United States. Setzer's chops are mind-meltingly amazing. The two-and-a-half minute "Pickpocket" is like listening to a brutal sprint for the finish line. Stray Cats classics like "Stray Cat Strut," "(She's) Sexy + 17," and "Rock This Town" haven't lost their shine. This is more than a souvenir from an exciting tour (though it's that, too); it's a great album of classic '50s rock 'n' roll.
