11 Songs, 34 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

Filled with shrieking guitars and wicked wordplay, Rock or Bust has all the hallmarks of vintage AC/DC. The band’s 15th studio album is the first release with rhythm guitarist Stevie Young (the nephew of founding members Malcolm and Angus Young), who rises to the occasion on the furious, fast-moving collection. Songs like “Baptism by Fire,” “Rock the House,” and the standout single “Play Ball” are an assault of amps-on-11 thrash with instantly catchy choruses.

AC/DC: ROCK OR BUST

AC/DC is back and they certainly haven’t busted. I might come back to edit this review since I only have ‘Play Ball’ and I want to be able to listen to the whole album. But in any case, yes, the boys from Down Under never disappoint and this album will prove it once again. The second you hear ‘Play Ball’ you already know you’re in for another good time. It’s hard to believe, however, that this is the first album without founding member, Malcolm Young (Rhythm Guitar), but his nephew, Stevie Young, definitely holds his own and honors his uncle in a powerful way. Then of course we have the original members: Angus Young (Lead Guitar), Brian Johnson (Lead Vocals), Cliff Williams (Bass), and Phil Rudd (Drums). Don’t they sound just as great as ever? I’m going to keep this short, for now, until the whole album is available. Until then, AC/DC’s ‘Play Ball’ is a must buy for anyone, and it surely sets the tone for the rest of “Rock or Bust.” Gene Simmons of KISS said that Rock was dead, but AC/DC is still here and with that, I can surely say, "Rock and Roll will never die!"

Brian Found His Voice

Brian's vocals sound really good. New Rhythm Guitarist sounds great. Stays true to tradition but you can hear a little wrinkle (the kids got his own style) but it works perfect. I hope the rest of the album sounds as good. Hard Rock with a kiss of Southern Style Blues.
