Eight years since the platinum-selling Face the Promise, the King of Heartland Rock returns with the self-produced Ride Out, which includes covers of John Hiatt’s “Detroit Made,” Steve Earle’s “The Devil’s Right Hand,” Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson’s “Adam and Eve," and “California Stars,” where Wilco put music to Woody Guthrie’s lyrics. Six originals (nine on the deluxe edition) come from Bob Seger himself, including the environmentally conscious “It’s Your World” and the classic midtempo “All of the Roads.” More than 70 songs were considered for inclusion, with the Vince Gill duet “Listen” saved for this deluxe edition.
