Nicolette-Nicolette Larson

This is a terrific album! Nicolette had a phenomenal voics and style. Not content to keep to any one style, Nicolette scores big with "Lotta Love", then jumps into the bouncy "Rhumba Girl". The Sam Cooke classic "You Send Me" is super. The hard rockin' "Can't Get Away From You" is sizzling. The sadly humorous and ironic "Mexican Divorce" pairs with a Bonnie Raitt-like "Baby, Don't You Do It" which might be the best cut on the disc. "Angels Rejoiced" is a triumph and "French Waltz" is as sweet as honey. This was a great debut, it's too bad none of her follow ups were as successful, Nicolette Larson was a fantastic singer.

Van Halen Alert!!

Hmm, let's see?: 1978, Warner Bros., produced by Ted Templeman, that's interesting, engineered by Donn Landee too, hmmm okaaay, but with a lone guitar solo credited to "?" on "Can't Get Away from You", oh man that's it ... EDDIE VAN HALEN!! C'mon, yer not gonna get any other chances to own official '78 recordings by the MAN unless they open the vaults now that Diamond Dave's back on the vox!!
