15 Songs, 51 Minutes

EDITORS’ NOTES

In March 2019, Dallas rapper Yella Beezy walked welterweight boxing champion Errol Spence Jr. to the ring for a fight against fellow undefeated Mikey Garcia. Yella Beezy performed “That’s On Me” from Lite Work, Vol. 2, an album released some two years prior. Though his star had risen in the time since, Beezy had yet to make another song that would propel a fighter to victory the way “That’s On Me” did for Errol Spence Jr. that evening. And then came “Bacc at it Again.”

The Quay Global-produced lead single from Baccend Beezy features Gucci Mane and Quavo, who, together with Beezy, look back on their pasts in the trap with a glowing affection that can be found in much of Yella Beezy’s music. Baccend Beezy on the whole maintains a similar thread, the MC using his country charm to remind both fans and haters that though he lives a life funded by legitimate musical income, his biggest material loves are still diamonds and guns, and we’re unlikely to encounter him without an abundance of either. Other notable Baccend Beezy guests include Chris Brown (“Restroom Occupied”) as well as Mr. "Freaky Tales” himself, Too $hort (“Tattoo”), whose influence on Beezy can be heard in X-rated bars throughout songs like “Slow Motion,” “One Time,” and “Run to the Money.”

Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics.
