Buy it. Listen on repeat.

I listen to a LOT of music in this genre and Elder stands above the other very capable "it" bands of the moment. They are the best band to come out this century. These are all lofty claims and promises but I've turned many a skeptic into a fan. Listen to their whole catalog if you don't believe me

Reaching for something different

This album seems to be an extension of some the work on the last album "Lore". Where "Lore" interjected some prog leanings into Elder's normal blistering riffage, "Reflections" goes much farther.
As with many recordings of songs that are prog or have at least elements of it (many time changes, tempo shifts, etc.) it is not as easy to listen to as other more basic formats.
This album may grow on me, but I see it now as a band reaching for something and not quite getting all the way there. The track "Sonntag" seems to be a throw in of some jam that never fully materialized, maybe to make even sides on the vinyl version.
There are some great moments on this album, you just have to dig a little deeper than with some past Elder albums.

Mind blowingly awesome

I don't know how else I would describe this album. Every single song is a musical masterpiece, and because of that this album deserves to be considered one of the best rock albums of the 2010s. Elder is simply an incredible band, and they absolutely deserve to be heard. I cannot recommend 'Reflections Of A Floating World' enough.
