You’d realize Tim Minchin hailed from Down Under even if he didn't name-drop Oz so often—his irreverent, genre-crossing comedy songs immediately call to mind New Zealand neighbors Flight of the Conchords. Ready for This? begins simply, with a song about anti-ginger discrimination and an ode to Jesus that includes a blasphemous twist. By the end, the album becomes brilliantly conceptual: Music biz saga “Dark Side” jumps between rock and classical, and "Storm" is an atheist shaggy-dog story that lasts almost 10 minutes. It still feels too short.
